We’re starting a new monthly series over here on Brooklyn Portland! The truth this, without all of our favorite kitchen tools we’re essentially powerless in the kitchen. So we’re thanking these tools in the best way we know how, giving them the spotlight right here on the blog! First up is an ode to the humble whisk, an essential in my Portland kitchen.

 

To say I love my whisk is really an understatement. I’m a little obsessed. And it’s no secret. I’ve started up a little collection of whisks all thanks to my good friend Cecilia who gave me a bouquet of vintage whisks, kale and dahlias for my birthday last year. Best gift ever?  What other tool can turn egg whites into meringue and heavy cream to whipped cream in just a few short minutes?! It’s also essential for marshmallow making and buttercream creating.  Quite simply, the whisk is the force behind most kitchen magic.

 

Admittedly, the whisk that sees the most action in my kitchen is my KitchenAid attachment. When I’m in the mood for a good arm workout I whip up some heavy cream by hand….okay, I very rarely do this, but whipping cream so thick it stayed put in an upside down bowl is a culinary school memory I’ll never forget.
